History

Nyx was conceived when Feyre was in Illyrian form therefore Feyre's pregnancy was very high risk because she did not have the same wide pelvis as Illyrian women in order to give birth to a baby with wings. Nyx was born prematurely, almost three months early because one of his wings had caused a tear in Feyre's stomach, all the healers had said that Feyre and the baby would die along with Rhysand due to the deal he and Feyre had made.

In a last attempt to save Feyre and the baby, Madja created an incision in Feyre's stomach to surgically remove the child. Feyre, Rhysand, and Nyx were only saved from death by Nesta Archeron, who offered to give the powers she had taken from the Cauldron back if it would save Feyre, Rhysand, and Nyx, the Cauldron accepted and Nesta lost most of her powers.

House of Flame and Shadow

When Nesta uses the Mask to defeat a Middengard Wyrm she has a hard time breaking out of its hold so Azriel tries to help her snap out of it by mentioning all the people that love Nesta. He mentions Feyre, Elain, and Nyx along with Nesta's mate and her friends, and says they are waiting for her.

Appearance

Nyx is described as a beautiful baby with dark black hair similar to Rhysand's and blue eyes like Feyre's, that glow with his father and mother's starlight. His skin has a light tan and his Illyrian wings are delicate and soft, with claws atop that would grow much later, along with the wings.

Feyre Archeron

Feyre is Nyx's mother. Since her pregnancy, Feyre has shown herself to be a very attentive and loving mother. And when she learned about the risk of pregnancy, she chose not to despair so that Nyx wouldn't feel her panic.

Rhysand

Rhysand is Nyx's father. As shown in the Bonus chapter of The Court of Silver Flames, it was Rhys who came up with the idea for Nyx's name. And Feyre is sure how good of a father Rhys will be and that Nyx will never doubt how much he is loved.

Nesta Archeron

Nesta is Nyx's aunt. She saved Nyx and Feyre's lives by using the Dread Trove to resurrect them.

Elain Archeron

Elain is Nyx's aunt. He's last seen sleeping peacefully in her arms.

• Nyx is the Greek Goddess of the night, and the daughter of Chaos.
• His middle name is not outspoken, but named after Feyre's father.
• Although Nyx would naturally be considered 1/4 Illyrian, as Cassian points out, he has Illyrian wings because Feyre was in an Illyrian form when he was conceived. This would make him 3/4 Illyrian. Rhysand explains that shapeshifting changes a body down to its most intrinsic level, including its DNA. Therefore, Feyre's body would have been fully Illyrian at the time of conception. Otherwise, it would have been possible—but unlikely—for Nyx to inherit wings, given that Rhysand, who is half-Illyrian, was born without them and can only manifest wings through magic.
