The Loyalists are the faerie kingdoms who fought to keep their mortal slaves five hundred years before the events of A Court of Thorns and Roses.

History[]

Five hundred years before the events of A Court of Thorns and Roses the world was ruled entirely by faeries, who held mortals as their slaves. When these rebelled some faerie kingdoms supported their rebellion and as many others remained loyal to their slave government system, so a war broke out between mortals and their allies against the faerie Loyalists.

The war lasted seven years and mortals and their allies achieved the victory and freedom they so longed for. The Wall was erected, the Treaty was signed, and the faerie kingdoms south of the wall either disappeared or were relocated to other northern territories, causing discontent among the rulers who had to cede part of their lands for this cause. Mortals in kingdoms north of the wall must have been sent south, although many rulers chose to kill them before freeing them.[1]

When a new war broke out, many of these kingdoms welcomed Hybern's claims to destroy the wall with the power of the Cauldron to re-enslave mortals.[2]
