How did Kallias end up living Under the Mountain for forty-nine years? toggle section
Amarantha employed a daemati to torment the Winter Court's children, leading to their deaths. This caused Kallias to believe Rhysand was responsible, forcing him to live Under the Mountain for forty-nine years. However, the actual culprit was a different daemati, not Rhysand.

History[]

When Amarantha begins to frequent the Courts of Prythian after the Treaty with the humans is signed, the Winter Court is no exception, so the High Lord lost most of his powers and was left at her mercy when he was sentenced to live Under the Mountain for forty-nine years until Tamlin finds a human who hates faeries with all her heart but loves him.

The High Lord of the Winter Court, along with the High Lords of the Summer and Day Courts rebelled against Amarantha and she killed them, so new substitute High Lords were put in place. And Amarantha punished the Winter Court by killing two dozen of their Fae children.

A Court of Thorns and Roses[]

The High Lord watches Feyre Archeron's trials Under the Mountain.

When Feyre successfully finishes the third trial put by Amarantha, she becomes enraged and tries to kill her by breaking all the bones in her body. When Tamlin is free from the curse thanks to Feyre, all the other Courts do as well, so when she is dying, the High Lord of the Winter Court, along with the other High Lords bestow a piece of their magic to turn her into a High Fae as a token of gratitude.[1]

A Court of Wings and Ruin[]

Facing the impending war against Hybern, Rhysand, the High Lord of the Night Court sends letters to all the other High Lords, including Kallias, to schedule a meeting.

Initially, Kallias does not give news as the situation between the Winter Court and the Night Court is tense after the events of Under the Mountain.

After several comings and goings, the High Lords agreed to hold the meeting and the event takes place at the Dawn Court Palace, the residence of the High Lord of the Dawn Court, Thesan, since it is the closest place to the Middle. The meeting is attended by the seven High Lords with their delegations and after several discussions and altercations they agree to join forces against Hybern, with the exception of the Autumn Court who leaves after Feyre shows that when they revived her each of the High Lords gave her a little of their power unknowingly.

Kallias shows up with his wife Viviane, a great friend of Morrigan, and they hang out together and talk the whole time. He is very cold and suspicious and was only kinder when Rhysand confesses that what happened in Under the Mountain was something that he tried to avoid but that he had not been able to. That the daemati who had tormented the minds of the two dozen children of the Winter Court who were killed by Amarantha's orders had not been him but another daemati that she employed so that Kallias would think that Rhysand was the culprit, since his mind control power is well known to everyone else.

Finally Kallias, along with his wife, say that they would join them in the war and are later seen in the room designated for the Night Court with Helion, the High Lord of the Day Court having dinner together.

He participates in the battle that rages at his court and later in the final battle in the Mortal Lands to the south of Prythian.

After the final battle he attends the meeting called by Feyre in the ruins of the Archeron's Estate to renegotiate a new Treaty between faeries and mortals.

A Court of Silver Flames[]

Kallias and a pregnant Viviane are seen at the Starfall celebration in the Velaris.

Appearance[]

The High Lord of the Winter Court is a handsome Fae with white hair and skin so pale he looked frozen. Even his crushing blue eyes seemed like chips hewn from a glacier. As a member of the Winter Court he tends to wear fur even in the Summer and as their High Lord he wears a crown of ice.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Ice Manipulation: According to Rhysand, Kallias has the power to create, shape and manipulate ice. Because he owns this power, Feyre also received this power, due to being revived by the seven High Lords.

Relationships[]

Viviane[]

Viviane is Kallias' mate and wife. Kallias had been in love with Viviane his whole life but had never told anyone, scared that Amarantha would use Viviane against him but when his power had been ripped from him he had used what remained to warn Viviane and tell her he loved her. When he returned back to the Winter Court he'd winnowed to Viviane and she'd kissed him, then he'd propose and they swore their vows. According to Viviane the mating bond only snapped while they were intimate.
