Cassian's mother was an Illyrian who lived in a camp in the Night Court.

History

She lived in an Illyrian camp in the Night Court and worked as a laundress. She was raped by an unknown warrior and got pregnant without being married so her son Cassian was always called a bastard.

When Cassian was three years old, he was taken away from her and brought to a different camp, Windhaven Camp. Cassian always wanted to go to her and help her, but he and his friends were unable to do anything. She was forced to do hard labor until she died.

When he was strong enough, Cassian went back to the village where he was born to search for his mother. There he learned she was dead, and the people refused to tell him where she had been buried. One of the females at the camp hinted they had dumped her off the cliff.

Cassian slaughtered everyone in the village except those who weren't responsible, the children, some females, and the elderly. Rhysand and Azriel helped him, and they found his father as well. They tore him apart before Cassian finished him.
