A blood ruby is a gem that is often used in the Summer Court to declare their mortal enemies.
Description[]
Blood rubies are ruby gemstones the size of a chicken egg. Each so pure and richly colored that they seem crafted of blood.[1]
History[]
A Court of Mist and Fury[]
After Feyre Archeron steals half of the Book of Breathings belonging to the Summer Court and flees back to the Night Court along with Rhysand and Amren, the High Lord of the court, Tarquin, sends three blood rubies to the Court of Nightmares, one for each, making it official that all three were mortal enemies of his court and that they will soon be killed.
A Court of Wings and Ruin[]
During the High Lords meeting in the Dawn Court, Tarquin tells Feyre and Rhysand that in exchange for helping him protect Adriata from Hybern's army, the blood rubies he had sent to them are rendered ineffective and they are no longer enemies of his court.
