The Beddor family had their land very close to the village where Feyre Archeron and her family lived. The daughter Clare Beddor was friends with Nesta Archeron, Feyre's older sister and told her that a village boy named Tomas Mandray wanted to ask for her hand in marriage.

When Feyre is living in the Spring Court of Prythian, the High Lord of the Night Court visits unannounced and is surprised upon noticing the mortal's presence and asks her her name. She lies to him by telling him the first name that came to mind: Clare Beddor. Not being safe for Feyre to stay in Prythian with Rhysand knowing of her existence, Tamlin sent her back to her family in the Mortal Lands.

When Feyre was in her old village, she overhears a conversation of Tomas Mandray with his friends where they made reference to a burned house and wondered if there was anything left that they could loot.

When she got home, during dinner, her father said that he planned to buy the Beddor land so that one of them could build their house when they were married, to which Feyre asked what had happened with them and her sister Elain Archeron told her that the entire family had died in a fire and that Clare's body had never been found.

Realizing that the fire had not been an accident but was actually intended to kill her, Feyre returned to Prythian and being Under the Mountain discovered the inert and tortured body of Clare pinned to a wall. she had been killed by Amarantha.
