–The Suriel to Feyre Archeron, A Court of Thorns and Roses

The Autumn Court is one of the seven courts of Prythian, and a Seasonal Court. It is known to be beautiful, cutthroat, and highly competitive, a court of foxes. The High Lord of Autumn, Beron Vanserra, is gifted with the power of fire and is known to be the oldest and the cruelest of all the High Lords. He rules the Autumn Court with his wife the Lady of the Autumn Court and his living sons.

Eris Vanserra, the eldest child of Beron and his wife, hopes to kill his father and take the throne.

Geography[]

The woods of the Autumn Court look like a jewelry box, a latticework of red, gold, brown, and green. The colors are so vivid that it's hard not to gawk and gape. Surrounding the forests of the Autumn Court are farmlands and fields, inhabited by the Lesser Faeries who work the land. It is a land of fertile valleys and jade streams that end in steep foothills that leaped into gray, snowcapped mountains mark the start of the shared range with the Winter Court to the north. It limits to the west with the Summer Court, while to the south is the Spring Court.

The Forest House[]

The Forest House is the residence of the High Lord of the Autumn Court. It's located at the center of the Autumn Court is a sprawling complex, and has been built in and around the trees and rocks, with only its uppermost levels visible above the ground. Below, it tunnels a few levels into the stone. Its sprawl generates its size; it is possible to walk from one end of the House to the other, though it would take half the morning. There are layers and circles of sentries ringing it; in the trees, on the ground, atop the moss-coated shingles, and the stones of the House itself. No enemies approached Beron’s home without his knowledge. None left without his permission.

History[]

When Prythian was formed, the land was split into seven Courts, the Autumn Court being one of them.

Like all Courts, the Autumn Court is ruled by a High Lord, Beron Vanserra. Beron and his wife originally had seven sons: Lucien, Eris, and five other unnamed sons. Lucien was really the son of the High Lord of the Day Court, Helion, but was raised as one of Beron's sons.

Lucien fell in love with Jesminda, a Lesser Fae deemed unworthy by Beron who had her executed in front of Lucien while his brothers held him powerless and forced him to watch. Eris wasn't there, and this was the first and last time he disobeyed his father. Afterward, Lucien abandoned his title, left the Autumn Court and sought refuge in the Spring Court. Three of his brothers saw this as an opportunity to rid themselves of a rival to the throne and followed him, but they were thwarted when Tamlin arrived, warned by Eris. Two of the brothers were killed, one by Lucien and one by Tamlin. Only the third one returned home and rejoined his family.

Five hundred years ago, Eris, the heir to the Autumn Court, was engaged to be married to Morrigan of the Night Court. However, when he discovered that Morrigan had lost her virginity to the Illyrian warrior Cassian, he refused the marriage. Morrigan was left on the border of the Autumn Court, naked with a note nailed to her womb saying that she was Eris' problem. Eris left her there alone, and during the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin, Eris confessed that he would never have touched Mor and he knew she didn't want to marry him so he gave her a way out.

When Amarantha began to frequent the Courts of Prythian, the Autumn Court was no exception, and the High Lord lost much of his powers because of her.

When Feyre Archeron freed Tamlin and the Spring Court from Amarantha's curse and Amarantha killed her, the other Courts were also freed.
