After Nesta finishes reading The Dance of Battle she realizes there are a lot of things she needs to learn so she asks the House of Wind to give her something Cassian might read, it gives her this book. The next day, Cassian sees her carrying a book and asks her what she is reading, when she tells him he almost stumbles a step surprised she is not reading her usual romance book. When he asks her why, she tells him that there was no point in her learning fighting techniques if she didn't know their true purpose and uses, that she would just be someone else's weapon and she wanted to learn how to wield it herself and others.[1]
