See you after my book hangover...
Hi there! I'm super new to this fandom and just finished all the books but I have been DYING to ask about them with someone and no one I know has read them :( SO If anyone is down to dissect them and talk about them hmu!! We can connect on discord or something and make a little discussion group :)
I am at the end of Book 3 and it is driving me crazy that Sarah J Maas completely sidelined Lucien in all books(especially in Book 2 and 3). Lucien is my most favorite character in the entire series mainly 'cause I find many similarities between me and him. So, I was hugely disappointed seeing him in ACOMAF and ACOWAR . Maybe the story being told from Feyre's perspective, the Inner Circle became more popular and everybody forgot about his contributions. But I think personality-wise, he is more elevated than most characters. Here are some reasons why:
Lucien is a very good friend, both to Tamlin and Feyre. Judging his friendship and loyalty to Tamlin from Feyre's perspective will put him in the wrong side and lead to misunderstandings. He knew that his friend was borderlined ;but he also knew that his friend offered him shelter when he had nowhere to go in Prythian. And I think Lucien wanted to bring out that side of Tamlin, and the only way to do so was to stabilize the Spring Court after Amarantha's reign. So, despite Tamlin's irrationality, he put his friendship towards Feyre aside to form an ordered court under Tamlin's command, not solely because of fear, as Feyre put it.
Lucien has as much troubled history as any other characters, still the Inner Circle was hailed because of their ability to fight through their fears. But one thing we all forget that Lucien was alone in battling his fear or broken side of his character, But Rhys, Mor, Az , Cassian and Feyre - all fought their fears together and healed themselves together as friends. But more emphasis on the Inner Circle left Lucien neglected from Feyre's POV, but if we think neutrally , we can see a struggling personality within him, always facing bad consequences for the choices he made.
Throughout the series , Lucien has made many sacrifices too. H had to bear many tortures Under The Mountain; he helped Feyre as much as he could. The only reason he couldn't help her as much as Rhys because he wasn't as powerful as him, but everybody forgets the tortures executed upon him for helping Feyre.
His ultimate fate with Elain is the highest form of discrimination against him. Everyone got what they wanted, and Lucien had to leave his mate-I just couldn't tolerate this harsh ending.
For all these reasons , I think Lucien , if not the best, is the most unique character and deserves much more recognition. If his story is sill neglected in the next books, I might start a movement. If anybody feels the same as me , please write-
