Alright, don’t crucify me for this. But I felt this is amazing and kinda made sense. I have not read ACOFAS and I’m just about finished with ACOSF. So if this was confirmed in these two novels then my apologies.
So the my theory is that Amren is an Angel. Like an angel from Christianity. There are several hints that point to this.
Amrens true form is that of a bright, fiery winged creature with an equally fiery crown.(A Halo).
When Amren talks about her original home, a realm that is not the world she currently inhabits, she says that she was created by a wrathful god. The Christian God is shown to be wrathful, having destroyed the world with a flood. And...
Amren also mentions the sacking of two cities. In Christianity, there is a story of two cities being ngl destroyed. The cities were Sodom and Gamhorra. Destroyed by Hellfire and Brimstone. Sounds familiar.
As Amren makes the ultimate sacrifice, she says that perhaps being sent to this world was not a punishment, it was instead a gift from her father, her creator. As well as being Wrathful, God is also shown as a forgiving and benevolent being, that would do anything for his children.
This next step is a little more convoluted but hey, you read this far so may as well. I’ll go as far as to say I think Amren is Lucifer. Lucifer literally means Lightbringer in Latin. And who is described as fiery intense light, Amren.
As a side note, SJM does take from Christianity in her writing, the most notable reference are the Seraphim. In Christianity they are the most powerful Angels. In SJMs work they are a winged Fae species.
So what do you think?
