SMALL SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ A COURT OF SILVER FLAMES
Note: This is a rant, I will try to be as respectful as possible
So I am currently reading acosf, and Nesta is crying because she realizes she's hurting people and thinks she can't be better, Cassian then says, "Everyone deserves happiness." And that just made me kinda mad. Shouldn't Tamlin deserve happiness too? And before you all start hitting me with the 'Tamlin is evil,' let me go in depth.
You could argue that Nesta had a bad life. Her mother somewhat loved her and manipulated her, her father died 'because' of her, she was forced to be a High fae, etc. And I recognize that. But Tamlin went through things too.
Tamlin's people who in-saved, he was up under a curse for 50 years, he watched the women he love be tortured and killed. If we can feel for Feyre, we should be able to feel for Tamlin too.
Then in acomaf, SJM makes Tamlin evil to justify Feyre falling in love with Rhys. That book is about glorifying the Night Court and Rhys. There is a reason we all like Tamlin in acotar, because he is a good guy. And if we can forgive Rhys for what he's done. What about Tamlin?
I'm not saying that he should have locked Feyre up, I'm just saying your shouldn't hate the guy so much. And Tamlin deserves happiness too. In acomaf, that was so unlike Tamlin to lock her up. He let her go in acotar because he loved her and wanted her to be safe.
I mean, if your family or someone you loved was captured, tortured, and killed, wouldn't you want to keep them around?
Back to Nesta. Nesta had her redemption ark, this whole book. And it's worked, I actually like her. But I just felt that they were being hypocrites.
So now I just say there are two different Tamlins'. Tamlin #1, acotar, and Tamlin #2, the rest of the series.
Thank you for reading my rant.
